Tara got into REMODolgy by default.  As a nutrition expert, building is not her thing.  However, it was her husband Stephen’s thing, so she also became passionate about it.  Tara loves processes and procedures almost as much as Stephen did, so she can relate to Stephen’s passion for creating a system and certification for builders.  Tara’s role is in the background, supporting the business legacy that was Stephen’s vision.  In her spare time, she runs her own busy nutrition consulting business as well as being mommy to sons Basil and Levi.

REMODology was Stephen’s brain child and passion, and I want to do everything I can to further his mission of helping both the remodeler and the homeowner to build a win-win relationship.”

Tara Gidus

Pro—Food specifically pizza, eggplant, and chocolate; running, chasing her little boys, crossing things off the To-Do list

Con—gum cracking, meat, being cold, having a never ending To-Do list

On a personal note—Tara’s busy nutrition consulting includes her own book,  Pregnancy Cooking & Nutrition for Dummies.  She helps athletes eat right as the team dietitian for the Orlando Magic and nutrition consultant for the University of Central Florida (UCF). She is the resident nutrition expert on The Daily Buzz and also appears on other local and national TV shows.  Learn more at

The first thing you’ll notice about Marion is her self-confidence and positive nature, particularly when speaking about remodeling. Marion knows what she’s talking about—with nearly 40 years of experience in building and remodeling, along with the related real estate and insurance industries, people listen.

Marion joined her husband’s business, Jonathan McGrath Construction, in 1996. Serving Orlando since 1984, the remodeling company focuses primarily on residential renovations and additions to existing single family homes.

Marion has been instrumental in helping the company attain numerous first place and grand awards from the Metro Orlando Home Builders Association Parade of Homes Remodelers Showcase, and the national Chrysalis awards for the past decade.  The company is a Remodeling magazine Big 50 winner, and has been featured in magazines including Open House, Fine Homebuilding, Luxury Living, and Orlando Home and Leisure.

Not one to sit on the sidelines, Marion’s leadership abilities are evident, particularly with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), in which she has been actively involved on a local, state and national level since 1997. She is the immediate past president of the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Metro Orlando, former chairman of its Remodelers Council, and serving her ninth year as a board member.  Striving for excellence, the company has been a member of the Remodeler 20 group ‘The Patriots’ for the past 11 years, where it learns and shares best practices for fellow remodelers across the country.

“Jonathan McGrath Construction has successfully used Stephen Gidus’ processnow called REMODologyfor many years. It has allowed us to collect thousands of dollars in retainers for Pre Construction services.”

Marion McGrath

Pro—Music, sports, traveling, spending time with family and friends and mostly spending time with my two beautiful granddaughters

Con —Cold weather, strawberries, dishonesty, the current economy

On a personal note—Marion supports local organizations ‘Christian Help’ and ‘Elevate Orlando’. She plays ‘aunt’ and/or ‘grandma’ to the neighborhood children, temporarily adopts her friends’ animals, and babysits/feeds/ walks any and all whenever needed! She loves music and is always searching for a concert to attend. Most of all Marion loves spending time with her two granddaughters who she says are “like a drug and take all the stress away as soon as I lay eyes on them!”

Paul has a calming nature about him that keeps clients engaged and reassured. Paul does a lot of listening and talks only when he has something to say that matters. Like many remodelers, he learned the profession by wearing the tool belt—in Paul’s case, however, he was only 8 years old.  Paul’s father –a building supervisor and master carpenter--taught Paul and his brother Stephen Gidus—founder of REMODology—how to lay baseboard that rivaled the work of the professionals. Really! Only in his 20’s, Paul founded PSG Construction with Stephen, and helped build it to be one of the most recognized and respected remodeling companies in Central Florida.

As co-owner of PSG Construction, Paul was responsible for making the numbers work for both PSG and its clients. He oversaw each project by visiting the site on a daily basis, garnering respect from the tradesmen on the jobs, and putting clients to ease about their projects. His attention to detail helped earn PSG the reputation for meticulous and distinctive work. With nearly 30 years of experience, Paul understands the challenges of remodeling from both the remodeler’s perspective as well as the homeowner’s. Paul is now sole owner of PSG Construction, leading it with the same integrity on which the brothers founded their company.  His expertise, along with the desire for excellence, ensures that REMODology operates under solid principles from which both the remodeler and homeowner benefit.

“The value of REMODology is in knowing exactly what you are going to get and what you aren’t going to get. That’s a big part of a successful project. “

Paul Gidus, CGR

Pro—good wine, an organized home, The Ohio State Buckeyes, vacationing, family time, running

Con—clutter, cold weather

On a personal note: —Paul has participated in nine homebuilding trips to Tijuana, Mexico for Project Mexico, where he has led building teams in erecting simple dwellings for homeless people. He has run 18 marathons. When he’s not straightening his house, he is spending time with his wife, son and two daughters.

Monarcha’s easy-going manner and friendly smile should not fool you—she has been a licensed Building Contractor since 1984. Her micro business Adventure in Building, Inc. focuses on preconstruction project management services. She is a proponent of “ease of use” elements, and possesses “Aging in Place Specialist” (CAPS) designation. Her attention to detail and preconstruction focus reinforce the REMODology philosophy .

Monarcha’s company has provided services to award winning Builder/Remodelers in the Orlando area; she has worked on notable projects including: the 2007 International Builders’ Show (IBS) Renewed American Home; 2007 Southeast Building Conference (SEBC) New Southern Home; and 2012 SEBC New Southern Home.

In 2007, Monarcha helped start a unique annual event bringing together Health Professionals and Builder/Remodelers at the Home Builder’s Association of Metro Orlando. This event allows professionals from each industry to collaborate in helping the senior population “age in place.” She has also held leadership positions in professional associations including Remodel Council Chair, Home Builder’s Association of Metro Orlando, and local and regional chair of the CAD/Design/Drafting Scholarship Award for High School Students for the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). She was a past Secretary and Treasurer for the College Park Neighborhood Association. She is currently a member of the College Park Partnership.

“REMODology is a unique and valuable educational opportunity without equal in the Remodeling industry. REMODology provides timely information for homeowners deciding how to start the remodeling process and for Remodelers looking to improve their business.”

Monarcha Marcet, CGR, CAPS

Pro —good design, organization, making lists, sci-fi movies

Con —dishonesty, unlicensed building activity, hot humid weather

On a personal note: —Monarcha’s main life goal of raising two wonderful, independent boys is evident in the success of their accomplishments – one is a chef managing several restaurants at a major university; and the other is a computer animator working for an orthopedic doctor “modeling” medical procedures. Monarcha’s current passion is helping others understand the concepts of “ease of use” in home design and remodeling.

Ann Marie started writing when she was 10 years old and has never stopped. With a degree in Journalism from Ohio University, she fell into advertising and marketing when her mother snagged her a job in her hometown upon graduation—and she’s been hooked ever since.

Now Ann Marie has nearly 35 years of experience promoting for-profit and non-profit companies and organizations. She first worked in retail advertising, then for ad agencies, and finally opened up her own consulting business in 1986. For 20 years, she worked for PSG Construction, involved from its infancy and helping it grow to be one of the nation’s most progressive and professional remodeling companies. During this time she also developed and helped implement marketing strategies for remodeling companies across the nation. After a 5-year hiatus, she is back on board with PSG Construction, making use of today’s technology to promote PSG.

Ann Marie brings to REMODology a keen understanding of the intricate challenges of remodeling—both from the remodeler’s point of view as well as the homeowner’s. This perspective and experience helps her communicate the unique win-win business model behind REMODology.

“REMODology can take remodelers to a new level of professionalism; it will help dispel the negative perspectives homeowners have of the remodeling business. REMODology can eliminate the unnecessary headaches, frustrations and stress from remodeling—for both the remodeler and the homeowner. What’s not to love about REMODology!”

Ann Marie Mecera

Pro—sunny days, the beach, travel, reading, great friendships

Con—cold weather, overcast skies, slow drivers

On a personal note—Ann Marie loves traveling so much that she believes she was either a gypsy or truck driver in a former life. With one daughter in Manhattan and another in Savannah, she grabs every opportunity she can to hop in the car and visit them. She has come to appreciate the comforting powers of animals through her younger daughter’s Tibetan Terrier named Giorgio. She serves on a diocesan church council and a national church pension board. Her parents live with her and her husband Gus in an in-law apartment in their cozy (but cold and overcast) Midwest home.

From early on, Stephen has pursued a “better way” of accomplishing everything in his life. This is the philosophy on which he built REMODology.

Stephen was introduced to the building profession when he was just five years old and his father taught him how to install baseboard. In junior high, Stephen was selected for Junior Achievement and experienced what it was like to build and operate his own company. During high school and college, he worked for a siding and windows remodeler. When he was just 19 years old, he left his Midwest home and returned to Orlando—his childhood home--where he worked his way up from apprentice glazer to project manager in just four years.

When he was only 25 years old, Stephen started his own remodeling company—PSG Construction, with his brother Paul, who had also moved to Orlando. The company has grown to be highly recognized and regarded; and it has received over 15 Parade of Homes first-place or grand awards in the last 13 years.

Stephen became actively involved in local, regional and national remodeling organizations when he was still in his 20’s. His leadership abilities became evident, and he was placed in positions including president of the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Metro Orlando; chairman of its Remodelers Council; board member for the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA); Remodelers Council chair; and board member for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). He was also a Remodeler of the Year recipient.

Stephen has repeatedly been invited to participate in numerous panel discussions and make presentations to both remodelers and the public. He has written dozens of articles, and has been interviewed and published in countless consumer and trade periodicals throughout the United States.

Over the course of PSG Construction’s history, Stephen developed processes and procedures that helped set the company’s work apart from other remodelers. Homeowners appreciated the thorough preconstruction processes that helped eliminate surprises and minimize the stress that often accompanies remodeling projects. He envisioned sharing these processes and procedures with his fellow remodelers as well as homeowners, and devoted several years to developing what is now known as REMODology.

“Where I came from and how I got here is the classic ‘school-of-hard-knocks.’ Along the way I realized, a step-by-step process of educating my clients about their individual remodeling projects was the best way for both of us to achieve our individual goals. REMODology is homeowners and remodelers achieving success together.”

Stephen Gidus, CGR, CGB, CGP

Pro—detail, organization, running, role modeling for sons, dates with wife

Con—clutter, gossip, negative attitude, dishonesty

On a personal note: —Stephen passed away on October 8, 2012 after a courageous fight against cancer, in which he never gave up. He also was able to get REMODology fully completed and ready for its launch, which took place October 11, 2012 at the NAHB Remodeling Show in Baltimore.
